Common questions about this tool
Upload your PDF file, the tool extracts text, images, and formatting, then converts it to a Word document (.docx). Download the Word file and edit it in Microsoft Word or other word processors.
The tool preserves as much formatting as possible including fonts, colors, tables, and basic layout. Complex PDF layouts may require minor adjustments in Word, but text and structure are maintained.
For scanned PDFs, use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) first to extract text, then convert to Word. The tool works best with text-based PDFs, but can handle image-based PDFs with OCR preprocessing.
Yes, tables are converted to Word tables and images are embedded in the Word document. You can edit both tables and images in Word after conversion.
You'll need to unlock the PDF first using our Unlock PDF tool. Once password protection is removed, you can convert the PDF to Word format normally.
Upload a PDF, pick Edit Mode (for clean, editable text flow) or Layout Mode (for visual fidelity), then start the conversion and download the generated DOCX. The converter runs through a backend API and returns a Word file you can open in Microsoft Word or compatible editors.
Use Layout Mode when your priority is keeping the original structure, including columns and positioned elements. You can also run the optional AI Structural Audit, which analyzes text from the first couple pages and recommends the best mode for your document. Even with Layout Mode, some PDFs may still convert imperfectly depending on how the PDF was authored.
Run the AI Structural Audit to detect tables and column sections and auto-select a recommended conversion mode. For table-heavy or multi-column PDFs, Layout Mode is typically the better fit because it prioritizes structure and positioning over continuous text flow.
This tool converts PDFs by processing their content through a server-side conversion pipeline, but it does not expose a dedicated OCR setting in the UI. If your PDF is a scanned image-only document, the conversion may produce a Word file with limited editability unless the backend can extract readable text from the scan.
DocuFlow uploads your PDF to a public backend endpoint to extract text and generate a DOCX, and it downloads the result directly in your browser. For sensitive documents, follow your own security policies and avoid uploading files you cannot share; also note that password-protected or corrupted PDFs may fail to process.
