Background and Concept

PNG supports transparency (an alpha channel). When you put a PNG into a PDF, you can keep that transparency so the PDF shows transparent areas, or you can flatten transparency by filling transparent pixels with a solid color (e.g. white) so the result is suitable for print. Color space (RGB vs CMYK) affects how colors are interpreted: RGB is standard for screens; CMYK is used for professional printing. The tool draws each PNG onto a canvas in the browser, applies your transparency and rotation choices, then embeds the result as PNG in the PDF. Pages are A4 with a 10 mm margin; each image is scaled to fit inside and centered. So the PDF has one A4 page per image, and transparency is handled before embedding.

• Smart Optimize (optional). You can click Auto-Config to send file names and sizes to a service. It returns suggested transparency mode, color space, and quality, and a short reason. The tool applies these; you can change any setting after. If the service fails, the tool falls back to high-quality defaults.
• Convert and download. You click Convert to PDF. The tool builds the PDF in the browser and downloads it. The file name is converted followed by a timestamp and .pdf. Each PNG is fitted and centered on an A4 page with a 10 mm margin.

Common Use Cases

• Combine screenshots or graphics into one PDF for a report or manual. Upload PNGs, preserve transparency if the PDF will be viewed on screen, or flatten to white for print, and download.
• Prepare logos or designs with transparent backgrounds for print. Use Flatten to Color and pick white (or another background) so the printer gets a solid background.

How to Use This Tool (Step-by-Step)

1. Open the tool. You see an upload area. Drag and drop PNG files or click to browse. Only PNG files are accepted. You can select multiple files at once.
2. After upload, you see a grid of files with previews (checkerboard behind images so transparency is visible). Use the left and right arrows to move an image in the order. Use the rotate button to turn an image 90 degrees. Use the trash icon to remove one image. Use Clear All to remove all and start over.
3. In the settings panel, choose Transparency Handling: Preserve Transparency, Flatten to Color (then pick a background color), or Show Checkerboard. Choose Color Space: RGB (Web) or CMYK (Print). Choose Quality: High Quality (Print Ready) or Compressed (Web Share).
4. Optional: click Auto-Config under Smart Optimize so the AI suggests transparency, color space, and quality. Read the reasoning and change any setting if needed.
5. Click Convert to PDF. The tool builds the PDF in the browser. When done, the file downloads (name starts with converted_ and ends with a timestamp and .pdf).
6. Open the PDF to confirm. To make another PDF, add or remove files, change settings, and convert again.

How Transparency and Settings Affect Output

The tool does not send your PNGs to a server for conversion. It loads each PNG in the browser, draws it on a canvas, and applies your choices. For transparency: Preserve keeps the alpha channel; Flatten to Color fills transparent pixels with your chosen color; Checkerboard fills them with a gray-and-white pattern. Rotation is applied on the canvas. The result is then embedded in the PDF as PNG. Each page is A4 with a 10 mm margin; the image is scaled to fit inside and centered. Quality (Print vs Web) sets whether the PDF and images use higher or lower compression. Color space (RGB vs CMYK) is a setting used for compatibility; full CMYK color conversion may require other software. Tips, Limitations and Best Practices

Use Preserve Transparency when the PDF will be viewed on screen and you want transparent areas to stay transparent. Use Flatten to Color when you will print or when the viewer does not support transparency; pick white or another background that matches your use.

Reorder with the left and right buttons before converting. The order in the list is the order of pages in the PDF.

Color space CMYK is for print compatibility. The tool uses this setting in the workflow; full CMYK color separation may require dedicated print software. For screen use, RGB is correct.

Conversion runs in the browser. Very large or many PNGs may slow the tab or run into memory limits. If the tool becomes slow or fails, try fewer or smaller files.

Page size is fixed at A4. You cannot choose Letter or match the page to the image size. Each image is scaled to fit on an A4 page with margins.

If Smart Optimize fails, the tool reverts to Preserve Transparency, RGB, and High Quality. You can then set options manually.
