Billing
TOOLGRID API GATEWAY is pay as you go: usage is metered from a dedicated API credit wallet (apiCreditsRemaining), not AI credits or White Label embed credits. Successful executions settle credits; eligible failures refund. USD figures are usage equivalents — not withdrawable cash.
Subscription required
An active TOOLGRID API GATEWAY subscription ($19.99/mo, separate from Business VIP) unlocks /v1, key creation, and credit top-ups. Each charge grants monthly API credits into your wallet. Credits never expire. If you cancel, you keep your balance (no cash refund); new API calls are blocked after the paid period ends. See pricing.
Conversion
Configured rate: 1 API credit = $0.0001 (server env DEVELOPER_API_CREDIT_USD_MICROS, default 100 → $0.0001/credit).
When you are charged
- Request validates and claims an Idempotency-Key.
- Credits are reserved atomically from your API wallet.
- On success, the reservation settles (ledger
usage) — no second deduct. - On eligible failure, the reservation is refunded once.
Auth, validation, rate-limit, and unsupported-tool errors never reserve credits. Idempotent replays of a completed request return the stored body without a second charge.
Batch jobs
POST /v1/jobs soft-checks that your balance covers roughly N × unit credits before queueing. Credits are reserved and settled (or refunded) per file when the worker processes each item — same wallet and rules as sync execute. See Batch jobs.

Purchases
Buy packages from the credits dashboard. Checkout creates a payment; webhooks fulfill into the API wallet only. Balance updates after server-side confirmation — never from a URL parameter alone.
History
Use the dashboard Usage and Credits pages for request-level statuses (including refunds) and the append-only credit ledger. Monetary amounts on historical rows come from recorded snapshots, not today's conversion rate reapplied.
